Kettle

Pop the kettle on, neighbour.

A private app for one building, run by the people who live in it. Ask, offer and arrange things with neighbours you can trust are real residents.

Kettle is in private testing. The app is not in the App Store or Google Play yet.

Does anyone have a drill I could borrow this weekend? Happy to bring it back with biscuits.

Example posts

Only people who live in your building get in

  1. Join with a building code

A neighbour or steward shares the code. You tell us your floor, never your flat number.

  2. Prove you live there

A one-off check that you're at the address. We keep only pass or fail, never where you were.

  3. Neighbours vouch for you

Two neighbours who know you say so, a steward approves you, or a postcard with a code arrives at the building.

  4. The feed opens

Once three neighbours are verified, the building feed unlocks. Until then, notices from your stewards are there.

Small, and gone in a couple of days

Ask for a hand, offer something spare, plan a get-together. Posts are short and expire after two days by default, a week at most, so there is no endless feed to scroll.

Problems go to the right people

Report a broken lift or a leak privately. Only you and your stewards see it, with a status you can follow until it is sorted.

Built to be trusted

No phone numbers, no direct messages
Everything happens in the open, in the building. Posts are short and carry no links or contact details.
Your email stays private
It is only for signing in and getting your account back. It is never shown to neighbours, stewards or anyone else.
Stewards are neighbours
Residents approve joiners and keep things kind. Reporting and blocking are always free and always private.
Safe for 16 and 17 year olds
Younger neighbours can join, with a steward checking their posts first. Nobody under 16 can.

Free to download

Joining, the feed, notices, private issues, reporting and blocking are free, always. A building can optionally upgrade to Kettle Plus to lift the free member limit. One person buys it and the whole building benefits.

For property managers

A portal for managers is planned for later. Today Kettle is run by residents.
